Philippine Journalist’s Code of Ethics

1. I shall scrupulously report and interpret the news, taking care not to suppress essential facts nor to distort the truth by omission or improper emphasis. I recognize the duty to air the other side and the duty to correct substantive errors promtly.

2. I shall not violate confidential information on materials given me in the exercise of my calling.

3. I shall resort only to fair and honest methods in my effort to obtain news, photographs and/or documents, and shall properly identify myself as a representative of the press when obtaining any personal interview intended for publication.

4. I shall refrain from writing reports which will adversely affect a private reputation unless the public interest justifies it. At the same time, I shall fight vigorously for public access to information, as provided for in the Constitution.

5. I shall not let personal motives or interests influence me in the performance of my duties; nor shall I accept or offer any present, gift or other consideration of a nature which may cast doubt on my professional integrity.

6. I shall not commit any act of plagiarism.

7. I shall not, in any manner, ridicule, cast aspersions on. or degrade any person by reason of sex, creed, religious belief, political conviction, cultural and ethnic origin.

8. I shall presume persons accused of crimes of being innocent until proven otherwise. I shall exercise caution in publishing names of minors and women involved in criminal cases so that they may not unjustly lose their standing in society.

9. I shall not take unfair advantage of my fellow journalist.

10. I shall accept only such tasks as are compatible with the integrity and dignity of my profession, invoking the "conscience clause" when the duties imposed on me conflict with the voice of my conscience.

11. I shall conduct myself in publis or while performing my duties as a journalist in such a manner as to maintain the dignity of my profession. When in doubt, decency should be my watchword.

the loyalty issue

LoYaLty—>define loyalty..all i found out in the dictionary was "faithful to one cause or ideal.." in my case, i would define it as "stick to one!!"

i guess to all the girls out there, Loyalty is such a big problem. i mean, personally, i want someone who sticks to only one love..and that would be me..no other strings attached..

yeah, i get jealous at times..although sometimes, i tend not to mind those "flirting with other girls" issues my boyfriend and i have..what could be the problem with that?!? unless the girl is so stupid enough to tolerate the flirting..haha!! when that situation comes, i’ll stand my ground and…haha?!? guess what?!? (i swear, i won’t resort to extreme measures such as quarreling the girl and my boyfriend publicly..) that is just so shameful!!! it all started when my boyfriend went out with his friends one night..but he did ask permission..and i told him "go! have fun!!" it turns out, i wasn’t ready for my reaction when he rode a taxi to city grill…i was..blank.._____ and for a moment there, i was just staring at a blank sheet of paper (my diary) not knowing what to write…contemplating the worse case possible scenarios ever my boyfriend might have encountered without me (such as finding another girl which has all the PHYSICAL characteristics that can turn him on…and worse..a..aahhmm..you know what i mean..).

after that night, i told him how i felt..he just smiled and kissed me on the cheeks..then he assured me that i am the only girl in his life now..and that he couldn’t ask for more..

i guess that settles the loyalty issue i have in mind..assurance is all that it takes, is all that i need..and that should be on regular basis..

anyway, i know i’m beginning to be very paranoid about these kind of things..i just don’t want history to repeat itself..i’m fed up with all the crying and hurting issues in my life..and i’m sure my friends are too…

How Do I Love Thee

I read this poem when I was still in first year high school..my friend Justine introduced me to this poem..i am not sure if this was her composition, or she got this from another author, but i also like this poem.

"HOW DO I LOVE THEE"

I do believe the Lord above,

Created you for me to love.

He picked you up among the rest,

Because He knows I love you best.

I have a heart, and that is true,

But it is gone from me to you.

So it good care of it just like I do,

For I have none and you have two.

If leaves on trees begin to fall,

If waves on seas rush to shore.

And if I’m first to rest in soil,

Remember dear I love you more.

If I’m in heaven and you’re not there,

I’ll wait for you at the golden stair.

If you’re not there ’til judgement day,

I know you went the other way.

So I’ll return my angel’s wings,

My golden days and everything.

To prove to you my love is true,

I’ll go to hell to be with you.
